Our Story
We're here because Black women have always been told how to exist.
How to show up.
How to speak.
How much space to take.
How much joy to allow themselves.
We were built as a rejection of all of that.
Not an angry rejection.
A joyful one.
The kind our namesake, Frances Marie Porter, modeled when she chose herself at just 14 years old.
Pregnant and faced with a life-changing decision, she refused to let society define what her future should look like.
Not because it was easy, but because she understood something powerful:
Her life belonged to her.
frances marie was created in honor of that spirit.
A world where Black women are free to be exactly who they are, in every color, shape, season, and expression of themselves.
